Description:
The world famous Banzai Pipeline (usually simply referred to as “Pipeline” or “Pipe”) at Ehuki Beach gets its name for its gigantic, tubular waves that break in the shallow waters above the jagged reef. The name was coined by surfing movie producer Bruce Brown in 1961, and was first used in his movie Surfing Hollow Days. A host of professional surfing competitions are held at this spot including the Volcom Pipe Pro, Pipe Masters, and the Pipeline Bodysurfing Classic. Banzai Pipeline also holds a notorious reputation for being the “world’s deadliest wave,” as more surfers have perished here than at any other surfing spot.
